Good run out for us on the back of that 4-0 win at Heswall, against a side that beat the Goats last weekend.

We were a different class to Aber, who, were surprisingly poor. The only downside about today was that we were unable to judge how good our 'keepers are because they had absolutely nothing to do!!

We try and play football, which is a refreshing change. We also put some cracking balls in to the box, could have just done with someone attacking them a bit more decisively.

The Beckham-esque goal was absolute quality and after that it really was all one-way traffic. Our next three games will certainly provide a much sterner test for us but on today's display there really is no reason why we can't have a good season and personally, I just want to get started now.

A good gate of 1132 as well, can't see any other side in our league getting anywhere near that for a pre-season friendly.

Was browsing the Witton Albion wesbite earlier, they're fancied to do well in our league next season. Anyway, they got 114 for their friendly at home to Vauxhall motors this afternoon. Shows you the difference I suppose.

Anyway 1100 odd was a solid gate considering it was a pretty unattractive fixture and over the next couple of weeks we've got three much bigger home games against Tranmere, FC United of Manchester and Wigan.

How did the team look today against Morecambe Tang? Would love to see your lot kick on this season and get back to the League again.

Brilliant second goal, I'm struggling to think of too many better ones I've seen from a Chester player. The trialist Peers has really impressed me in both his appearances.

Not to bad. Where still looking at players and we've looked good against 2 championship teams (Hull & Barnsley) & look better than a L2 team.
Where also a week behind most of the teams where playing as we started late due to play-off final.

Chester 2 Trashmere 1.

1,922 in attendance with 500 from the Wirral.

Pretty even first half, their headed goal was well worked and very well taken.

Second half it was all Chester as both managers rang in the chances. Wilde headed our first in from a well taken corner and he also headed the second after City worked it really well on the right flank. This squad is better than last season's it would seem...!

Highlight of the night.....getting to chant 'easy' once again  . Be a few years before we meet them in another league match mind!!

Nice one, good attendance too which will add some good money to the coffers.

The new side seems to be shaping up well, when is the first proper game?

Good long way away yet mate, it's at Warrington Town towards the end of August. The ground only has a capacity of 2,000 so they've made it all ticket. We're expected to be allocated some 1,500 of those mind.

If the pre-season continues in this fashion it may not be enough   *

*didn't think i'd ever be saying that again....

Blimey that's quite some wait.

Worth it though, definitely one of those "I was there" moments you'll still be talking about in many years to come. It's great to see Chester moving in the right direction again.

Can't Warrington Town move it to a bigger ground in the town?

There was talk of the game being moved to Warrington rugby stadium but they don't seem to want to do that. I think they are applying for a temporary capacity increase.

Brilliant night tonight. I feel like I'm boring the hell out of everyone at the moment as all I'm talking about is the football club. Good banter between the two sets of supporters. Tranmere take the award for worst attempt to goad us ever - "You're not City anymore". Even worse than "Hollyoaks is s**t"

Any idea why you didn't play Scarborough Athletic at Telford the other Saturday?

I don't remember seeing that on fixture list?

Why was it at Telford anyways?

I heard it mentioned but our involvement was never confirmed as far as I know. Looks like Merthyr took our place

FCUM were involved and we're playing them in a couple of weeks anyway, so it would've been a bit daft if we had ended up playing them twice in one pre-season

Ah right fair enough, yeah I'm really excited about that FCUM friendly. I can see them bringing plenty and after all the assistance they've given us I'm sure plenty of Chester fans will want to see the game.

Yeah, it's the friendly I'm most looking forward to. Until recently, I had a pretty cynical view of FCUM but they're a cracking bunch

It wasn't a knockout comp. Just 2 finals.

Chester 4-0 Wigan Athletic

Not a very strong or experienced Wigan team, but I certainly didn't expect a win like that!

Considering they were all full time professionals playing for a premier league club it's an amazing result.

How many did they bring? Was the 1,600 odd all City fans?

I didn't see any Wigan fans at all, which amazed me nearly as much as the result!

If that's the standard of young British players on in the Premiership, it's kind of worrying! Having said that, we do look very, very good at the moment.

Yeah I think we'd give anyone a game form we're in.

The pre-season is going so well I'm starting to feel uncomfortable....
